研究期間:10308~10407;The purpose of this project is to investigate the effects of the factors of economic values and social norms to the individual environmental behavior. Our research will focus on the recycling experiences of Taiwan, which has been attributed to a success policy and became a model in international recycling activities. This research is designed as a two-year research project. On the first year, our work focuses on the estimation of the relationship between the volume of garbage that household disposes or recycles and the characteristics of household based on the township data. By using the difference-in-difference method, our estimation will examine the policy effect that is related to the importance of social norms. On the second year, our work focuses on the uses of individual household data. We first use the data collected by the Academia Sinica and examine the factors that determine the individual environmental behavior. Second, by using the survey and contingent valuation method, we will discuss the factors that affect the recycling behavior and further to examine whether the individual’s monetary value affected by the social norms. Our work will provide part of information to design the public policies for the decision-makers in Taiwan.
